Ingredients:

For the Steak:

  • 2 ribeye or filet mignon steaks (1–1.5 inches thick)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 2 garlic cloves, lightly smashed

  • 2–3 fresh thyme sprigs

  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

For the Mushroom Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 1 cup sliced cremini or button mushrooms

  • ½ cup heavy cream

  • ¼ cup beef broth (or stock)

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, finely chopped

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Pasta:

  • 200g spaghetti or fettuccine

  • 1 tbsp salt (for boiling water)
