Prepare the Filling

  1. Cook the Beef: Brown ground beef in a skillet. Drain grease completely.
  2. Mix the Flavor: Return beef to heat, stir in refried beans, taco seasoning, and ½–⅔ of the tomato sauce (don’t make it too runny!).
  3. Fill & Assemble: Spoon the mixture into the taco shells, standing them upright in a lightly greased casserole dish.
  4. Bake & Melt: Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top and bake at 375°F for 10 minutes until bubbly.
