**Biscuits and Gravy Casserole Recipe**

**Ingredients:**

* 1 (16 oz) can of refrigerated biscuits (like Pillsbury Grands)
* 1 lb breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
* 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
* 2 ½ cups milk
* ½ teaspoon black pepper
* ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
* Optional: a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes for some heat
* Optional: shredded cheddar cheese (about ½ to 1 cup)

**Instructions:**

1. **Preheat oven** to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. **Cook the sausage** in a skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Do not drain all the grease—leave about 2-3 tablespoons in the pan.

3. **Make the gravy:** Sprinkle flour over the cooked sausage and stir to coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes. Slowly add the milk, stirring constantly. Add salt, pepper, and any optional spices. Simmer until thickened (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat.

4. **Cut the biscuits** into quarters. Place half of them evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

5. **Pour the sausage gravy** over the biscuits. If using cheese, sprinkle it on top of the gravy.

6. **Top with remaining biscuit pieces**, arranging them evenly.

7. **Bake** uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until the biscuits on top are golden brown and cooked through.

8. **Let cool for 5 minutes** before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley or a drizzle of hot sauce if desired.
