Instructions:

  1. Activate the Yeast:
    • In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  3. Combine Ingredients:
    • Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the Dough:
    • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, or until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Let it Rise:
    • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C).
  7. Shape the Dough:
    • Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a loaf that fits into your air fryer basket.
  8. Air Fry the Bread:
    • Place the shaped dough into the preheated air fryer basket. Air fry at 350°F (180°C) for about 20-25 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  9. Cool and Slice:
    • Allow the bread to cool before slicing.
  10. Optional: Brush with Butter:
    • For added flavor, you can brush the top of the bread with melted butter immediately after it comes out of the air fryer.

Tips for Success:

  • Yeast Activation: Ensure the water is warm but not too hot, as excessive heat can kill the yeast.
  • Kneading: Proper kneading develops the gluten, which is essential for the bread’s texture.
  • Rising: A warm environment helps the dough rise effectively. You can place the bowl in a slightly warmed oven (turned off) or near a warm stovetop.
  • Air Fryer Basket: If your air fryer basket is small, consider shaping the dough into smaller loaves or rolls to ensure even cooking.
  • Checking Doneness: The hollow sound when tapping the bottom of the bread is a good indicator that it’s fully baked.

Enjoy your homemade bread, a delightful blend of traditional baking and modern convenience!
