Instructions:

1. Brown the Beef:

  • In a large skillet or saucepan, cook the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces with a spoon. Once fully browned (no pink remains), drain excess fat.

2. Sauté the Aromatics:

  • Add the diced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the beef. Cook for 3-4 minutes until softened and fragrant.

3. Simmer the Sauce:

  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  • Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

4. Cook the Pasta:

  • Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente (check package for timing, usually 8-10 minutes). Drain well.

5. Combine & Serve:

  • Toss the drained pasta with the meat sauce until evenly coated.
  • Serve hot, garnished with Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of fresh parsley (if using).
