Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patties:

    • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bacon, cheddar, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently (avoid overmixing).

    • Shape into 4–5 oval patties.

  2. Cook the Patties:

    • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

  3. Make the Gravy:

    • In the same skillet, melt bacon fat (or butter) and sauté onions for 5–6 minutes until soft and golden.

    • Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

    • Sprinkle flour over onions, stir, and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.

    • Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 4–5 minutes until thickened.

  4. Combine & Serve:

    • Return patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, and simmer for 5 more minutes.

    • Garnish with extra bacon or shredded cheddar if desired. Serve hot!

Variations

  • Smoky Cheddar Boost – Top patties with smoked cheddar in the last minute of cooking.

  • Mushroom Gravy – Add sautéed mushrooms for an earthy twist.

  • Spicy Kick – Mix in diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce.

  • Low-Carb Option – Swap breadcrumbs for crushed pork rinds or almond flour.

Pro Tips

✔ Use freshly shredded cheddar for better melting.
✔ Don’t overmix the beef to keep patties tender.
✔ Enhance the gravy with a splash of liquid smoke or Dijon mustard.
